Blackmore’s Night has released a new DVD (with a bonus CD) in honor of their 10th year anniversary. After all these years, they’ve managed to chisel their way to success, having done so in their own familiar way. It would be pointless for me to describe all of their songs again. I’ve done that many times already when writing reviews of this band.

This just might all be too much of a good thing because the band had already released a double DVD, ‘Castles & Dreams’, in 2005. Nowadays, it’s allowed to release a DVD or live CD after almost every tour. Every band tries to make some extra money by doing so. This DVD was recorded in Paris at the famous ‘Olympia’. The recordings are excellent so this should please the fans who are collectors of Blackmore’s Night material. The bonus CD is a compilation of the songs on the DVD. Musically speaking, it’s all at a top notch level and thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end. This ‘Paris Moon’ is a good filler until new material comes out…



Ter gelegenheid van hun 10jarig bestaan komt er een nieuwe dvd met bonus cd van Blackmore’s Night op de markt. Al die jaren hebben ze met redelijk wat succes aan de weg getimmerd op hun gekende manier van werken. Inhoudelijk heeft het dan ook weinig zin om al de nummers nog maar eens te beschrijven, dat heb ik in al mijn vorige recensies over deze band meer dan eens gedaan.

Voor een band die nog maar onlangs een dubbel dvd (Castles & Dreams 2005) had uitgebracht is dit misschien allemaal wat teveel van het goede. Doch moderne tijden laten toe om na bijna elke tour een dvd of live cd uit te brengen en dus probeert elke band op die manier wat extra geld in het laatje te krijgen. Zo werd deze dvd opgenomen in het beroemde ‘Olympia’ te Parijs. De opnames zijn van heel goede kwaliteit zodat de oprechte fan weer in de buidel zal moeten tasten wil hij of zij zijn verzameling compleet houden. De bonus cd is een compilatie van de songs die op de dvd te bekijken zijn.
Uiteraard is het muzikaal ook weer allemaal van zeer hoog niveau en is het dus genieten geblazen van het begin tot het einde. Als tussendoortje kan deze ‘Paris Moon’ wel de tijd overbruggen die nodig is om met nieuw materiaal te komen aanzetten…
