I never thought that this combination would ever work…German vocals coupled with typical Neo-Prog music. Traumhaus wipes the slate clean of any prejudgments that you may have had. These are rock solid songs with all the elements that a good Prog album should have and that is what is given to us.
Traumhaus is no beginner. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of knowing their former material.

Real Neo-Prog lovers will want to quickly get a hold of this album. The music is surprising on all levels. The style of the album is comparable to that of Marillion (Fugazi), with influences from Saga, Genesis and The Watch. The production is excellent and well balanced. The songs are pieced together very well and that’s what makes the album so strong. The bass work is very far reaching and comparable to the style of Pete Trewavas. The drumming is also amazing. The inventive guitar work stands opposed to the Mellotron keyboards. The extended musical passages require several listening sessions, thanks to its’ profundity and its’ revealing secrets.

Even though all the songs fit into the concept, there are still lots of attention given to variation. There are no boring moments, which is what listeners these days often seem to wrestle with. The album can easily be listened to in one go. The complexity makes room for ingenuity of intelligent solos from both the guitar and the keyboards.

‘Die Andere Seite’ from Traumhaus is an excellent Neo-Prog album that every Prog lover should own!



Nooit gedacht dat deze combinatie zou werken. Duits gezang met typische neoprog muziek. Deze TRAUMHAUS veegt die vooroordelen echter compleet van tafel. IJzersterke songs met alle elementen die in een goed progalbum moeten vertegenwoordigd zijn, dat is wat we voorgeschoteld krijgen.
Traumhaus is echter niet aan zijn proefstuk toe. Spijtig genoeg heb ik niet het genoegen gehad hun ouder materiaal te kennen.

Echte neoprogliefhebbers zullen dit album vlug in de armen sluiten. De muziek op het album verrast op elk ogenblik. De stijl van het album is vergelijkbaar met de oude Marillion (Fugazi) maar ook invloeden van Saga, Genesis en The Watch zijn terug te vinden. De productie is uitstekend en zeer goed uitgebalanceerd. Maar het sterkste aan het album zijn de songs die allen zeer goed in elkaar zijn geknutseld. Het baswerk is zeer breed en vergelijkbaar met de stijl van Pete Trewavas. Ook het drumwerk is verbluffend goed. Het eerder hoekige gitaarwerk staat haaks op het mellotron toetsenwerk. De uitgebreide muzikale passages vergen meerdere luisterbeurten om, vanwege de diepgang, al hun geheimen prijs te geven.

Hoewel alle songs in het concept passen is er ruim voldoende aandacht besteed aan de variatie. De verveling, waar hedendaagse luisteraars tegenwoordig vlug mee te kampen hebben, slaat hierdoor nergens toe. Het album is perfect in één ruk beluisterbaar. De complexiteit maakt op tijd plaats voor spitsvondigheid of intelligente solopassages van zowel gitaar als toetsen.

‘Die Andere Seite’ van Traumhaus is een uitstekend neoprog album dat bij geen enkele progliefhebber in de kast zal misstaan!
