If you’re a melodic rock fan and you haven’t heard of Danny Vaughn, something must have gone seriously wrong. Arguably one of the best rock voices today, the ex-WAYSTED, TYKETTO and VAUGHN singer has assembled a band of British musicians around him to record the first album under his full name. And what an album it is… TYKETTO’s Don’t Come Easy is always referred to as Vaughn’s best album, but, frankly, I think this new one is much better. OK, so there might not be a second ‘Forever Young’ on this album, but on the whole, it is a very even album without any fillers. It’s a bit on the mellow side – but then if you like that sort of thing, this album will amaze you. The album features some very strong melodic rockers in ‘Miracle Days’, ‘Badlands Rain’ (brilliant!) and ‘The Warrior’s Way’ (extra super brilliant!). Other gems are the AOR tracks ‘Restless Blood’, ‘Lifted’ (reminds me of the work of Mark Mangold), and the title song, plus the acoustic driven ‘The Measure Of Man’ and the long ‘Death Of A Tiger’ – an epic which is definitely something different for Mr Vaughn. An album with thrilling songs, excellent musicianship, a fine production and that magical voice of Danny Vaughn… what more could you hope for? |
