Burning Point
was founded in the Fall of 1999 in Finland. After the recordings of
a promotional CD, the band managed to get a record deal whereby they
released “Salvation By Fire” and “Feeding The Flames”.Despite
massive problems which ended up in the loss of their record deal the
band nevertheless managed to get some live slots on some big
festivals. In 2005 they recorded another promotional CD which was
brought to the attention of Metal Heaven in Germany who offered the
band a record deal. With “Burned Down The Enemy” it’s the end of an
era and also the start of a new beginning. The new line-up is one
full of energy and all band members are totally standing behind the
band. “Burned Down The Enemy” is the most heaviest and aggressive
album in the band’s history, although is full of great melodies and
huge choruses. Musically spoken it’s a mixture of classic metal,
mainly influenced by Melodic and Power Metal. Parasite is a fantastic song with great melodies and driving rhythms in good old Burning Point fashion. Up next is the melodic track “Heart Of Gold” whereby the focus is more on the melody than on heaviness. The Chorus of this song seems to be stuck forever. The vocals in “Dawn Of The Ancient War” sound a bit like Bruce Dickinson for me. “Hell Awaits” is a pure power track with simple efficient chorus. It seems like the band is using a formula of hitting you hard with powerful songs one minute and then stroke you down with fine melodies in the next one. The calm verses are quite similar to some Queensr˙che or Maiden tunes but with an own identity. “From The Beginning Of It All” is a nice ballad followed by a decreased tempo song “Icebound”. Full tempo is picked up again with Deceiver”. With “Eye For An Eye” - “To Hell And Back” and “Against The Madness Of Time” the same switching formula continues. For me “Burned Down The Enemy” is one of the best songs on the album and one of the most speedy ones also. The Whole album balances melody and heaviness in a splendid way by a brilliant crystal clear production and a tremendous performance. I enjoyed this release from start on and played it many times over and over again. Fans of the band have nothing to fear and everyone who's into heavy and power metal can buy this album with their eyes closed. The limited version of this release will include 3 bonus tracks: “My reign, my fire”, “Heart of gold (Demo)”, “The road to hell”. |
