Suddenly he is everywhere, the colourful tattooed singer Jacob
Brendahl. At first we saw him with his band Hatesphere, as
supporting act of Dark Tranquillity and Kreator. Then that same
Danish band was chosen to go on tour with Morbid Angel and they were
allowed to open for these American death metal icons. Now he has
leant his vocals for the Danish/Italian collective Allhelluja. The
energy he irradiates in a live situation has been canalised pretty
well on this vigorous album.
Music-wise however, it has less in common with Hatesphere. Based on
a pretty chunky groove, they return to the heydays of the stoner
rock; sludge rock like it was made in the nineties by Entombed and
Kyuss. Inclusive a number of meritorious guitar solos (Your Savior
Is Here’ and ‘Miss M’). Vocal-wise Brendahl sounds a bit less
extreme than in Hatesphere. In the title-track ‘Inferno Museum’ and
‘God Is Loughing’ (no type error) the man even illustrates he really
can sing. The lyrics is where all the extremity reigns supreme and
this has everything to do with the fact that these are inspired by
Derek Raymond’s book ‘Dead Man Upright’ about a psycho-sex
serial-killer. All about rape, murder, while diverse limbs are
consumed and/or flung about. Something’s telling me that these three
Italians were not present at the St. Pete’s Square during the pass
away of God’s deputy on earth. Among them Stefano Longhi (drums),
label president of Scarlet Records.
Motorhead, Kyuss and Entombed are the most significant resemblances
to describe the music. The album was mastered at the Swedish Cutting
Room, concerning the sound we have no reason to complain. |
