Everdome started its career as Bloodshed in 1995.
Two demos were recorded. In 2000 they changed their name in Everdome,
meanwhile the recordings of all kind of compositions went on. In the
end the real debut was recorded in October 2002, this Tales Beyond
Oblivion. Short after three of the five members left the band, so
the question rises if we ever will hear something about this band
again. In June 2004 Heavencross Records was willing to release this
album.
Without further preamble: it has not turned out
into a high-flyer despite all the previous demos and preparations.
Musically there is nothing to complain about, the production and the
sound are quiet well, but the band didnt succeed in avoiding all
the worn out power metal clichιs. Therefore Im afraid that they
will not get much attention in the abundance of releases. All the
songs are quiet long (average six minutes) and have a number of epic
moments. Point of critic are the vocals that are simply out of tune
sometimes. And the skilless use of the double bass drum is another
problem. This is a pity because composition-wise the are not the
worst.
I
can only hope that this Greek band has learnt from its mistakes and
will surprise us positively with the next album and a better singer. |
