Mangala Vallis
As
some already heard during the Progrésiste convention, Mangala Vallis
has lost their vocalist because he has been offered a contract for
some poppy work. But no problem at all for the Italian band. And to
our big but very pleasant surprise they presented Bernardo Lanzetti as
their new vocalist. You should be jumping around your living room
already, well, half of you already is. ;-) For the other half:
Bernardo is the singer of the famous Italian band PFM.
So,
there is certainly something to watch out for from the Mangala Vallis
world.

concert was recorded in Budapest in April this year on the final show
of the European tour in support of Hackett’s most recent album 'To
Watch The Storms'. It combines songs from across his career including
classic Genesis tracks like 'Blood On The Rooftops' and 'Firth Of
Fifth', early solo material like 'Ace Of Wands' and 'Spectral
Mornings' and more recent tracks such as 'Mechanical Bride' and
'Darktown'. The evening ends appropriately with the old Genesis
showstopper 'Los Endos'

Pink Floyd
‘The Wall – The
Movie,’ Alan Parker's extraordinary film, starring Bob Geldof, was
originally released in 1982. The album that inspired the movie, Pink
Floyd’s groundbreaking ‘The Wall,’ this year celebrates its 25th
anniversary. To commemorate these two landmark releases, Sony Music is
to re-release the movie on DVD on 1st November 2004.
This Limited
Edition re-issue will be packaged in a deluxe DVD digi-pak designed to
look like The Wall with debossed brick work and a see through
slipcase. Inside the digi-pak will feature a photo montage of film
shots and a re-production of the original film promotional poster.
This new edition also features new subtitles.
All artwork and
design has been co-coordinated by original Floyd designers Storm
Thorgerson and Peter Curzon.
In additional to
the original ‘The Wall’ film, this DVD contains several fascinating
extras. As well as a promotional feature from 1982, the two-part
retrospective documentary will prove fascinating for Pink Floyd fans.
There is also a rare and insightful interview with Roger Waters in
which he discusses the autobiographical inspirations for his musical
masterpiece. Director Alan Parker, animator-designer Gerald Scarfe,
cinematographer Peter Biziou, and producer Alan Marshall all
contribute several interesting observations. The audio commentary by
Waters and Scarfe adds depth to their documentary interviews.

Day Six
Day Six wins
Metal Bash 2004
On
Sunday October 17th, the symphonic metal band DAY SIX
from Holland, won the METAL BASH 2004 in the ‘Effenaar’ in
Eindhoven. 8 bands were selected from a few hundred contestants from
Holland and Belgium, to play in the semi final last month. Four bands
went through to the final, which was eventually won by DAY SIX.
The jury already stated that the band had left a great starter with
their CD “Eternal Dignity”. The progressive metal, full of variation
is well built up and reveals a lot of skils.
This Metal Bash is the second big victory in 2004. Earlier this year,
they already won the METAL BATTLE in Enschede.
DAY SIX is the first band to win both of these contests.
The
METAL BASH is organised by, a.o. the Dutch hard rock magazine
AARDSCHOK, who want to give some young bands this golden opportunity.
Apart from the “IGOR”, the band also got some studio time in the
professional studio “New Road Music” in Wijchen and a membership for
the magazines “Aardschok” and “Music Maker”.
Next to all this they will appear on some big concerts, e.g. METAL
BASH XL, in the beginning of next year in the 013 in Tilburg.

After The Silence
Press announcement After The Silence – october 2004
Recently on the 24th of september After The Silence
performed on stage in Musicon The Hague with bands like Sanity
and All Too Human. Carmen Agtsteribbe was still
temporarily replacing ATS-singer Ingrid there, because the day
before this gig Ingrid gave birth to a perfectly healthy
babygirl named Michelle. Before long Ingrid naturally will take
over the vocals again. At the same time there will appear an extensive
interview with the ATS-singer in Rockmagazine “Metal Maidens” on
account of the ‘The Netherlands’ special. Besides ATS, interviews with
Influence, Morning, No Code, Nodal Point
and Wings Of Fury will also appear in this special.
