We invite you for the general
presentation of the new M!ndgames album. This presentation will take
place on February 11th, 2006 at 20h in CC De Roos in Glabbeek
(Tienen, Belgium). This concert is a full show and will feature
highlights from International Daylight, as well as all the songs
from our new album. Order your tickets at
tickets@mindgames.be. The Flower Kings have finished recording songs for the new album in the Medley studio in Denmark and all is on the mixing desk now. A release is expected on March 24, 2006. Some words from Roine (The Flower King himself) about the album: "Regarding this new album it is all an experiment and in fact quite daring. Band members have contributed a bit more than normal and it is mostly recorded together live in Medley studios in Denmark. It will consist of 15-17 songs ranging from 3 minutes to 21 minutes. Vocals are equally shared between me and Hasse Froberg, there might be a chance of other guest appearances ... but even rest of bandmembers join in some choirwork. I think it's safe to say it will be a double album. The title will be Paradox Hotel, the cover is made by Andres Valle from Argentina and the album is being released in Europe on March 24th. The songs are perhaps a bit more mellow and sometimes very psychedelic leaning more towards Walrus era Beatles than ELP or Genesis prog. We have a few instrumentals and some real quirky stuff but not really jazzy, more like avantgarde or freeky prog stuff, plus more of the cinematic drama ..... and we have bombasm !!! Mr Bruniusson mention both Gentle Giant and King Crimson when he heard a few of the songs he's supposed to do a bit of marimba etc. on ..... I suspect he's right. There is a throwback in the Keyboard department to classical progsounds. We've used both real distorted Wurlizer and Grandpiano a lot, moogsounds and of course Tomas gorgeous Hammond playing, to top it there is more mellotron than ever. So I guess what I'm saying is that this will sound less 2006 and more 1974 .... in a way. Personally I view this as our "White Album" and stylisticlly it's probably closer to Flower Power or Retropolis than Unfold The Future or Adam & Eve, that's how I hear it." To top this, Jonas was proud to mention that he contributed with two songs that he wrote and he also did the backing vocals on at least one track. He's not sure about what will show up on the final release. Stupid Dream reissue news
The reissue of
Porcupine Tree's 1999 album Stupid Dream will be available in early
2006 in the form of a 2 disc set containing a remixed and remastered
stereo CD, and a 5.1 surround sound DVDA (with DTS encoded version
which will play on any DVD player equipped with a surround sound /
home cinema speaker set up). The 5.1 disc also contains surround
sound mixes of "Ambulance Chasing" and the full length version of
"Even Less", the video to "Piano Lessons", and a photo gallery.
Lasse Hoile has also created completely new images for the reissue,
since the band were never happy with the original cover design. Some big news updates from Jadis to start the year off ........... JADIS - PHOTOPLAY There's A
Light
The new album 'Photoplay' is now finished and review copies have already been sent out to magazines, fanzines and radio. The disc will be available to buy from the end of February. Gary reckons it to have some of his best riffs and melodies to date and says it shows a heavier side to the band which he has wanted to promote and get out of his system for a long time. A lot more has gone into the vocal arrangements and Steve Thorne has contributed backing vocals and harmonies on most of the tracks. Lyrically it covers a broad spectrum, but does touch a few times on Gary's disregard and loathing for religion and fanatical faith. All the artwork has again been done by Geoff Chandler at www.artworks91.com and we hope to have some song snippets available on this site very soon. Martin Orford leaves Jadis The other big news is that Martin has decided to end his involvement with the band. This has not come as a shock to the rest of the band as they had been expecting this for a while. Although it might sound a bit cliche, the 'musical differences' thing was quite a big factor and it is true that Martin was under used within the parameters of what Jadis do. There is absolutely no ill feeling at all and the rest of the guys are very grateful for his input and obvious talents that have helped shape many of the Jadis albums since 'More Than Meets The Eye' back in '91 including the new album, and we wish him every success with his next solo album and future IQ projects. The rest of the guys have been in touch with a couple of prospective new keyboard players who are interested in working with the band - so as soon as they have made a choice, we will let you know. For those of you willing to travel, you can see Martin's last show with Jadis at Mr Kyps in Poole on Thursday 19th Jan ... click here to order your tickets.

RHAPSODY TO RELEASE BAND'S FIRST LIVE ALBUM In January 2006 Italian Film Score Metal icons RHAPSODY are poised to release their first live album ever on Magic Circle Music - entitled "Live In Canada 2005– The Dark Secret"! If you'd like to hear specially selected samples from the new album,
cruise over to the
sampler page for "The
Compilations, 1996 to 2004." That's right, A NEW ALBUM!! But this one will be available exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store. The album contains, among other tasty goodies, a never-before-heard epic titled, "At the Court of Alkinoos", which clocks in at just over twenty minutes. It also includes a live concert recording of "Time Marches On" from 1997, and Glass Hammer's cover of Camel's "Airborne" from 1996. King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp visited Microsoft's campus recently to record sounds that could be used in the forthcoming version of the company's flagship Windows operating system. A Microsoft website posting shows a dark, 25-minute video clip of Fripp recording ethereal sounds that, the posting says, could be used for the audio cues found in Windows. Fripp is an electric guitarist noted for his ability to generate futuristic, electronic sounds from his instrument. From the evidence on the video posted on Microsoft's Web site, "Behind the scenes at [the] Windows Vista recording session," he's shooting for aural effects that wouldn't have been out of place in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey". Of course, Fripp is an old mate of Brian Eno - the man responsible for the Windows 95 "startup sound". Eno was reportedly paid $35k for his contribution to the advancement of computing, so we can hazard a guess as to how much Fripp will have trousered for his efforts. Daniele Liverani is completing the recording of the third and final chapter of his Rock Opera entitled The Final Surprise. With the release of this final episode, the complete story and music of the trilogy can be finally enjoyed in its entirety. An incredible cast of singers and mix of different music styles from fast power metal to straight AOR and crazy progressive rock tunes will lead the listeners to the final events of Genius' amazing trip into the dreams world parallel reality. Once again singers Mark Boals (Ring Of Fire; Ex Malmsteen) and Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain Of Salvation) are taking the major roles (Genius and Twinspirit32 respectively). The other amazing singers appearing include this time Eric Martin (ex-Mr.Big) as Mr. Niko, Jorn Lande (Masterplan) as Apikor, Andrea Datwyler (Lunatica) as Kokeshi, Toby Hitchcock (Pride Of Lions) as Senator Jeramus. Oliver Hartmann will care once again about the choruses while the narrator role will be covered by Philip Bynoe as usual. The album is going to be mixed in January 2006 for a release tentatively planned in the spring.
For a limited amount of time, there was a video on David Gilmour's
website of a "Jam Session" from the time he spent in the studio
recording his "On An Island" CD which is to be released on his
birthday on 6th MArch 2006.
Unfortunately, vocalist
Martine Thijs has decided to no longer fulfill her role as leading
lady of the band Trisomy. Forced by her personal situation, she can
no longer combine Trisomy with her other obligations. "Psychogeist” (Release
