We
are sad to announce that Kristoffer is of now no longer a member of
Pain of Salvation. After having been the band's bass player since
1994, he has now kindly been asked by the other members to leave the
band. The separation derives from growing difficulties to function
together as a band since Kristoffer moved to Holland a few years
back. www.musicbyone.com is the new official website for the band One featuring John Payne, Guthrie Govan and Jay Schellen of ASIA.
The
band’s self-titled debut album will be released on May 23rd in North
America and May 26th in Europe by InsideOut Records. Keyboard duties
on the album are handled by Ryo Okumoto from Spock’s Beard. The band
plans to play select shows during the summer with a full European
tour in the fall of 2006. Mangala Vallis third band on ProgdecenniO
The Italian band Mangala Vallis is the third name booked for the ProgdecenniO festival on May 20th in “De Boerderij” in Zoetermeer (NL). It’s the 10th Birtday Party of the Dutch prog magazine IO Pages. Other bands – as announced earlier - for that feast are Magenta from Wales and Satellite from Poland. The formation Mangala Vallis (Sanskrit for ‘Valley on Mars’) started in 1998 with the goal to blend the spirit of the progressive bands from the seventies with the sounds of the new millenium”. This worked perfect when the band released their project with the CD Book Of Dreams. The band was founded on the trio Giggi Gavalli Cocchi (drums), Mirco Consolini (guitars and bass) and Enzo Cattini (keyboards). The concept album about writer Jules Verne, released in 2002, was sung by three different vocalists. Now this role is completely in the hands of Roberto Lanzetti (previously from the famous PFM and Aqua Fragile). The new CD Lycantrope is filled with passion for music, with David Jackson guesting on saxophone (Van der Graaf Generator). The
Band's debut album 'Sinking Without You' JEBO was born from the impassioned song writing of Rob Allen, and the intense drumming of Jeff France. Both played in the highly successful international act K-Passa. When this ended, Rob needed a new outlet for his expressive, intense and emotionally charged songs. From this, JEBO was born.

If you pop over to David Gilmour's official website, you will see that it has had a nice new site re-design! Very pretty indeed! As well as the site re-design, there is a video available of On An "Island".
The video was shot by various camera persons in various locations, it features David, Astoria, Abbey Road, and the full orchestra conducted by Robert Ziegler from a score written by Zbigniew Preisner. Pink
Floyd, Two By Two
The feud between Waters and Gilmour over who had the right to use the band's name after it broke up (Gilmour won) is long since over, but it appears more and more certain that the band's reunion at last summer's Live 8 London concert is the last we'll see in the forseeable future.
We are delighted to announce that A.C.T are back with a new album

February 09, 2006 Elton Dean (born October 28, 1945, Nottingham, England; died February 8, 2006) was a jazz musician who performed on alto saxophone, saxello (a variant of the soprano saxophone) and occasionally piano. In 1966-67, Dean was a member of the band Bluesology, led by Long John Baldry. The band's pianist, Reginald Dwight, afterward combined Dean's and Baldry's first names for his own stage name, Elton John. Dean established his reputation as a member of the Keith Tippett Sextet from 1968 to 1970, and in the band Soft Machine from 1969 to 1972. Shortly before leaving Soft Machine he started his own group, Just Us. From 1975 to 1978 he led a nine-piece band called Ninesense. His own groups since then, usually quartets or quintets, have most often worked in the free jazz mode, with little or no pre-composed material. At the same time, he has continued to work with other groups that are very composition-based, such as guitarist Phil Miller's In Cahoots, drummer Pip Pyle's Equipe Out, and various projects with former Soft Machine bassist Hugh Hopper.
In 2002, Dean and three other former Soft Machine members (Hugh Hopper, drummer John Marshall, and guitarist Allan Holdsworth) toured and recorded under the name Soft Works. With another former Soft Machine member, guitarist John Etheridge, replacing Holdsworth, they subsequently toured and recorded as Soft Machine Legacy, playing some pieces from the original Soft Machine repertoire as well as new works. Dean's last musical collaborations included those with Soft Bounds (a quartet comprising Hugh Hopper, Sophia Domancich and Simon Goubert), Alex Maguire's project Psychic Warrior, and Belgian rock-jazz band The Wrong Object. http://cuneiformrecords.com/bandshtml/softmachine.html This spring, iO Pages celebrates its 10 years existence as a magazine with a small scale festival, ProgdecenniO, iO Pages 10th Birthday Party on Saturday May 20th 2006 in De Boerderij in Zoetermeer. (Holland) The redaction went on a quest for exclusive names and found a band that never played in The Netherlands before and a band that played only once in Holland, while their ratings were very high for their CD releases. Satellite is from Poland and is partly a sequel to the legendary band Collage. Under the leadership of drummer Wojtek Szadkowski; they released two fine symphonic albums with all the styles that are so typical for that kind of rock music: long tracks, concepts, intense passion and a high professional quality of technique and production. So it’s not a real surprise to know that their first two releases “A Street Between Sunset And Sunrise” and “Evening Games” found their way to the CD rack with a lot of fans.
Magenta is built around multi-talented Rob Reed from Wales. Magenta is his most important band next to his solo-project Cyan and a few other bands. Last year he was the motor of a charity single for the Tsunami victims (ProgAid), for which a lot of prog artists from England and abroad were joining in. Magenta, ‘the colour of prog’, is a colourful band, with singer Christina Booth as centre. She is the voice of progmusic in which accessible melodies are important. And still, Magenta let the audience enjoy some instrumental highlights on drums, bass, keyboards and guitar. The high rated CD’s Revolutions, Seven, Broken and recentrly Another Time..Another Place..I’m Alive (live) and the dvd The Gathering (live) say enough. Soon this discography will be extended with a real double album and the first signals are very promising.
They are still searching for a third band. This will also be a prog band with great class. iO Pages is also working out some details to give an interesting extra to their subscribers. After nearly three months in the studio Edenbridge completed recordings for their new album "The Grand Design". The album is currently undergoing mixing at Thin Ice Studios with Karl Groom (Threshold) at the helm. The album is described as being the band's biggest production so far as well as their most vocal oriented work, making strong use as it does of choir and backing vocals. No news yet of a release date, but we'll keep you posted. The Clive Nolan / Nick Barrett acoustic live Dvd, filmed by a TV crew in Theatre Wyspianskiego in Katowice, Poland in June 2005, is now available for purchase. Quality is reportedly excellent, and, for just a 2 piece band, demonstrates some pretty nifty camera work and a wide spectrum of material. The DVD is recorded for all regions, on NTSC [most UK PAL players will play this format no problem! (editors note - but be warned if you TV is like mine and over 5 years old it may not!) ] The disk also benefits from 5.1 sound mix, so hopefully it will feel like you are really there! Tracklist:
Walls Of Babylon - Pendragon Rock Inc 3 months after the release of "Signs", Beyond The Labyrinth has run out of stock on the "Signs" album, forcing the band to order a first reprint of the album. This reprint will be issued under the "Incommunicado" label, which is a new label founded by the band themselves. But the most important announcement is that the album will now be distributed through Rock Inc, the company founded by Joss Mennen and Theo Samson, who will be handling wholesale through Bertus, the largest independant distributor through the Benelux. Practically speaking, this means that you can order the album from any decent record store in the Benelux - something a lot of fans were asking about...
Beyond The Labyrinth to open for Riverside in Biebob! On April 23rd, exactly one year after their chance to play as a support for Pain Of Salvation, Beyond The Labyrinth will be opening for the new Polish prog sensation Riverside, who are doing a European tour. The gig is in the Biebob, Vosselaar, Belgium and getting to play there as a Belgian band means a dream come true for most of them... As you can see from the agenda on their site , they are also playing a gig in the afternoon, so it will be rushrush to get in time to Vosselaar ... RoSFest 2007 Several pieces of Pendragon news this week kicking off with the fact that the band have been asked to headline Rosfest in America in 2007! This will be the band's first US show since they played Progfest in 1995 so should be something for prog fans to look forward to! WINDOW OF LIFE. Stocks of the Window Of Life Cd have finally run out and so it has been decided to remaster the disc with all of the tracks from the "Fallen Dreams" mini album Cd, added for good measure. It is intended that the new release version of Window will include the artwork from both CDs. In the future there is the possibility that a similar job may be done with The Masquerade Overture c/w the As Good As Gold mini album! FUTURE PLANS "New songs are being written for a new studio album, so far there is about 30 minutes of new material which crosses every style from Motorhead to classic Tony Banks!!!! Some real interesting ideas are coming out here and there is little doubt that Pendragon have found new inspiration with Believe. Also Nick has been talking to John Barnfield, the old Pendragon keyboard player about putting out an album as a joint project." Tourdates:
This
is a new project/band that has been started up by John Jowitt [IQ,
Jadis] called Neo. The Reasoning would like to introduce two new members. Firstly, we have a new female singer by the name of Zoe-Marie Davies. Zoe joined us in early December and we have been busy in the studio laying her vocals over the demos on which we are currently working. She has brought a whole new dimension to the band’s sound, and with Dylan and Zoe out front, the audience will be in for an aural treat. Secondly, Gareth Jones, an old friend, has taken over on the keyboards and backing vocals. Gareth has years of playing experience and has already helped the songs take on a whole new life.
There have been many enquiries as to how the band sounds, therefore, on our site – www.thereasoning.com - we have put up a DEMO of one completed song - “Awakening”, in MP3 format. It can be found in “The Music” section of the site. This is a 6-minute rock song, so we hope you enjoy it and please feel free to write in and give us your feedback. We will add two more songs as a preview to the actual album over the coming months, so keep logging on. Take care and keep rocking.

It seems that the four founder members of 80's supergroup Asia (Steve Howe, Geoff Downes, Carl Palmer, and John Wetton) have big plans to celebrate the band's 25th anniversary. News from the various members websites talks of the creation of a brand new studio album, a DVD and a world tour. It would seem that earlier plans relating to the "Architect of Time" have been shelved for now and related tour dates suspended. John Payne, Guthrie Govan and Jay Schellen are expected to announce their future plans shortly.
