Joe Lynn Turner is at it again! After the success of his latest project Sunstorm, he decided that his fans wanted to hear more aor and melodic rock. He got together with Jim Peterik (Pride Of Lions, Ex-Survivor), Karl Crochan (Ace Frehley), Bob Held and Martin Briley (Meat Loaf, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Tyler,…), and penned eleven tracks for his new solo-album “Second Hand Life”. There’s even a song co-written with Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow).

The sound is very familiar (which is a good thing considering the quality of his earlier records). The addition of Michael Cartellone (ex-Damn Yankees, Lynyrd Skynyrd) on drums certainly makes the faster numbers rock like hell. Every song is a gem if you’re into this kind of music. The opener “Love Is Life” immediately sets the standard, and the album keeps going ‘till the end. Hard rockers like “Stroke Of Midnight” and “Over The Top” alternate with the usual ballads like “In Your Eyes” and “Love Is On Our Side”. European fans also receive the great bonus-track “Two Lights”.

There’s nothing new on this album, but Turner can make these songs come alive like no other. A great release for melodic rock fans, especially everyone who enjoyed last year’s Sunstorm.
