Clive Nolan and Agnieszka Swita have a new project together: Caamora. The meaning of this project is to bring an extravagant and imaginative musical to life. The project is called ‘She’ and will be performed live at the Wyspianski Theater in Katowice, Poland. The musical version of ‘She’ is based on a classic novel of the same name by H. Rider Haggard. The concert will be filmed and released on DVD with 2 CDs around the 21st of January, 2008. Besides Clive and Agnieszka, the other participants in this project are Alan Reed (Pallas) and Christina Booth (Magenta). The first EP from Caamora, ‘Closer’, appeared in the fall of 2006. It contained previously unreleased work from Clive and material that will be used for the ‘She’ project. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard this EP…

On this album, Clive and Agnieszka are assisted by Mark Westwood (Neo) on guitar, John Jowitt (IQ) on bass and Scott Higham on drums. Here’s a short analysis of the ‘Walk on Water’ album.

The Euro Vision Song Festival is not yet finished. However, this recording was probably sent in a bit too late. It probably would’ve done well, seeing that the festival has evolved in a progressive way. Yes, you read this correctly. The first song on this EP, “Walk on Water” is a very commercial song with Gothic tendencies. And we’ve heard songs like this before in the pre-selections of The Euro Vision Song Festival. Unfortunately, some of them weren’t as good as this song. “Walk on Water” is a strong song with an exchange of vocals between Agnieszka and Clive and it contains a lot of contemporary elements. From a vocal point of view, the EP is very solid. From a musical point of view, it’s comparable to Kate Bush with hints of Ayreon, but less heavy, of course. The guitar pieces are nothing to sneeze at. “Shadow” and “Invisible” will also appear in the ‘She’ project. These songs remind me of Clive Molan’s band, Shadowland, from back then. Everything is well produced by Karl Groom. This is, of course, progressive rock, but with a very commercial impact.
