Some people demand respect and the musical genius Steven Wilson is certainly one of those people. He and his band Porcupine Tree have proven this several times. Steven Wilson, along with Aviv Geffen, make heavenly music in a lesser known band called Blackfield. Their first album in 2004 was one of the musical gems from that year. This second album fits perfectly with the debut album of 2004. The style is comparable with Porcupine Tree, especially with ‘Light Bulb Sun’ and ‘Recordings’. Many horizons have been explored. The opening song “Once”, for example, has a high ‘Emorock’ stature.
“1,000 People” is, without a doubt, the strongest
song on this album. It’s a very emotional song that, through the
intense use of unexpected musical turns and indescribable feelings
of melancholy, drives the listener to want to hear the song over and
over again… The way in which every instrument, every voice, every riff or every tune has been probed and executed causes you to discover new elements over and over again. This intense and emotional feeling leaves you vacant and alone while your thoughts continue to wander even after the 43 minutes and 36 seconds of music has stopped… There’s only one remedy to cure this feeling… play the CD again!
