Zenobia is often named the German answer to Spock’s Beard, which is not far from the truth. These German lads apply more or less the same recipe: different styles are adopted and mixed, always in favour of a catchy melody. Yet Zenobia’s music isn’t as captivating as SB’s. But the latter are of course far more experienced veterans in a top band. And admittedly, the meandering compositions on “Delayed” do land on their feet quite nicely. Perhaps over-ambitious, they always know where to go and that’s an art of its own. The German singer is acceptable (no remarkable accent here), and instrumentally these guys know what they are doing. So I reckon this band still has some potential to grow. |
