The first line up of Weto announced itself in the year 1996. They released a first album “Tatort Bühne” in April 1997 in edition of 1000 pieces. In the year 1998 the music style changed and the lyrics became increasingly dark and more critically while the hardness of the songs increased. Florian Schaeffler (Drums) had to leave the band for health reasons for a while and was replaced by Benjamin Plow. Though the size of their concerts increased, for example a completely sold out concert in Munich. Besides that they played on relevant biker-festivals with over thousand people in font of  the stage. At that time the idea raised for a next CD, together with Christian Scharinger (former Keyboarder of Megaherz) as producer. The self-released EP "Scherben im Kopf" was released in the beginning of 1999. Briefly, 1998 was special year… the idea for a small folk-rock band/fun project with the name Schandmaul was started whereby guitarist Martin Duckstein and singer Thomas Lindner participated. Things went down a bit for Weto, while Schandmaul started the turbo-course. This course was so large that for Weto the air became increasingly thin. Thus the band decided to put Weto temporarily on ice to the turn of the year 1999/2000. Bassist Mick Ochs, dedicated himself completely to his career as engineer and Benjamin Plow (drums) started playing in the Gothic band Beyond the void. In the following years it became very calm around Weto and the silence was only interrupted by a yearly concert with rather modest successes. On a day the idea for a come back was discussed and another approach for Weto saw day of light! After Benni and Mick were indispensable, replacements have to be found... Matthias richter (bass) and Stefan Brunner (Drums) of the other band Schandmaul where brought on board. Also Heiner Jaspers of the band Regicide, joined the band on keyboards and the line up was complete! But how does the comeback should look like? A New CD should look like a few ‘Best of’ of the old things (the first two albums were already for a long time out of print), as well as new song and/or unpublished material. Thus they began with the pre-production for this album "Das 2weite Ich". Tom Büscher of the record company "F.A.M.E. Recordings” was in such a manner impressed of the material and a record deal was just a matter of time. They went immediately into the studio and locked their self up in the "HOFA Studios" in Karlsdorf together with producer Thomas Heimann Trosien to produce the new album. Many decisions has to be made; which old songs and unpublished material from the nearly 13 years history must come on the album and which not? And also new things still has to be written. Parallel with this album they announced also a "Live tour”. Thus the 2005er Funkenflug-festival in Munich was opened, as well as an appearance in Oldenburg and an appearance on the Leipziger WGT.

“Das 2weite Ich” is becoming a variated rock album with heavy rock songs (Tief – Phantasie – Flucht ’06 – Das Tier) sometimes with a pop-rock influence (Wieder Allein – Koma - Wolfsherz '06 - In Unserer Mitte '06) and also more calming moments (Das 2weite Ich – Ein Lächeln Lang - Irrlicht).  Comparisons to new German bands like Rammstein – Kaos Krew – Oomph can be made from time to time. The overall production and sound is quit good. Weto must have known that the time was right for a come back; maybe with this new album they could break through in the German rock scene and the rest of Europe. To say it with the band their words: “Here we are  now, and hold - not without pride - the fresh CD "Das 2weite Ich" - a raising moment to break the cellophane jacket and put our nose into the Digipack and for the first time smell the ink on the paper of the booklet…. The baby is born!”
