With Trespass you immediately think of the Genesis
album, and yet this eponymous Israeli band is more into ELP
and The Nice, while vocally there is some Yes as well.
Classical music on rock instruments is what is being served here.
‘Morning Lights’ starts off with recorder in real baroque style!
When an organ is dragged along the road as well, you will definitely
be in higher spirits. This triumvirate actually succeeds in
contributing something original to this ancient musical direction.
The arrangements combine the solemnity of classical music with the
urgency and stylistic freedom of rock. As soloists, they put out
some really heavy stuff, but still the music is more than the sum of
its performers. The playing is that of a Spanish fury, yet all is
subjected to an admirable collective discipline. ‘Morning Lights’ is
a record that thunders over you like a train. And that is perhaps
the only disadvantage: sometimes a brilliant part has passed your
ears too easily. Sharp listening is recommended. |
