nederlands Review

When this attractive-looking CD reached my reviewing desk, I was quite curious to hear it. The CD cover has some excellent graphics by Sandor Kwiatkowski and photographs by Dennys Taiana, Edoardo Oppliger, Lele Hofmann, Igor Tonascia. It is Sandor Kwiatkowski who also produced this album, assisted by Italo Pesce & William Red Rossi. The majority of the tracks were recorded by William Red Rossi at the “3rd floor studio” in Locarno, Italy. Additional recordings were done at “Phat Sonics” studio, Tenero and by Fiera at the “Canaa” studio in Losone. The album was mixed and mastered by Mario Krog. The sound on this album is crisp and clear.

What you can expect, is a progressive rock album, mixed with pop-like song structures. Some of the tracks are quite radio-friendly; nice tunes. “Time has never stopped” and “For you” show quite some variation, with soft, but also pretty powerful parts. At times, it’s a bit grungy, like Nirvana of Red hot chilli peppers, but there’s more to this album. Add some clean piano and crisp acoustic guitars and you’ll have an idea of the overall sound. “It’s my reflection” is slighly more powerful and has some solid guitar riffs,; but there’s also room for some nice, quiet parts. I even thought I heard some slight Zappa-influence somewhere. At 5’18’’, the 4th song, “As You Go Down The Road”, might be a bit too long for a radio track, but wouldn’t be out-of-place on the air.

“Different worlds” reminds me of Peter Evrard. The song’s structure and William’s voice are a bit reminiscent of Peter’s first CD, “Rubarb”. Also “In The Light Of Day”, “ Love Again” and “What Do You Mean” are of the same quality.

“Sound Sleep” is tranquil – the melody is generated by the piano and the guitar, with a dreamlike atmosphere. “Jessy” is more upbeat. Don’t forget to listen to the guitar solo here. “Sweety” is a short piece with only electric guitars and voice, and samples of baby sounds. Then it’s time for “Dreaming in your wedding dress”. This is the longest and most interesting track, and also the one with the most symphonic prog rock influences – well-constructed and with fine guitar work.

My favourites: Time Has Never Stopped – It’s My Reflection - Different Worlds - Dreaming In Your Wedding Dress
