Not too long ago, I was pleasantly
surprised when I found several CDs from Phideaux in my
mailbox. These guys make such an extraordinary and varied kind of
symphonic rock that it really is impossible to categorize it. The
musical masterpieces that you find all over these albums are
certainly references from the music of the 70s but have a
contemporary sound and color. Their latest album, ‘The Great Leap’, picks up where the previous albums left off. The songs are very beautiful and really good, just as they were on their other albums. “The Waiting” could have been a track from the Tom Robinson Band and “Last” reminds me of Donovan. The vocal performances are tip top and the music is substantially varied in style. ‘The Great Leap’ is a continuation of the story that Phideaux wishes to tell. This is a must buy for the symphonic rock lover due to its consistent high level of music making. |
