Nemo’s latest
album starts off with a nice symphonic rock instrumental. Second
part of “Douce Mort” is equally strong on the instrumental side, but
once again the vocals don’t reach the same level and the French
language doesn’t match. A pity, ‘cause the Nemo music is growing
without doubt: versatile, sometimes reminding of Transatlantic and
containing some classic hard rock elements. Especially in the long
tracks the versatility of JP Louveton’s compositions can be admired.
No wonder that the first and the last track are by far the strongest
on the album.
”Miroirs” rocks but the power is
not maintained despite the intriguing synthesizer and guitar solos
and alas the vocals are very irritating. But “Apprentice Sorciers” is a beauty and deserves a place among the great progressive and symphonic rock compositions with now and again some Yes elements, great drumming and gorgeous guitars. But please, please… will somebody ask them to stop singing? This music deserves so much better! |
