Michael Kiske is a familiar name in the hard rock and metal scene. He started his singing career at the age of 17 with Ill Prophacy, but soon left that band to team up with Helloween, one of the most respected German metal bands. Kiskes’ astoundingly dynamic voice could be heard on their “Keeper Of The Seventh Key” albums from 1987 and 1988, which sold more than a million copies worldwide. After the fifth Helloween album, Kiske started to work on his solo career. The result was “Instant Clarity”, which was very different from the Helloween-sound, using sevices from Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), amongst others. After another solo album, Kiske could be heard on numerous projects and rock-opera’s, like “Avantasia”, “Aina”, “Tribuzy” and, more recently, “Place Vendome”. Under pressure from his fans, Kiske made a third album in 2006. He wanted to confirm his proficiency in a more melodic style, an album to be proud of in years to come.
Anyone expecting a metal cd is proven wrong with “Kiske”. The album
is bursting with nice melodic pop songs, beautifully crafted, with
great vocals and a balanced production. I’ve been playing this cd
over and over again, without ever tiring of it. Acoustic guitars are
the main attraction here, giving this album an almost airy sound.
All I can say about this record, is that every song on it is a
masterpiece. “Kiske” is a wonderful cd to relax to, while enjoying
the music and vocals. A must-buy! |
