It takes some time to get accustomed to the sound of this Australian
trio. The sound on their first demo CD is rather original. It is
however, difficult to determine their style or to compare them to
other bands. They chose the right name ‘Mechanical Organic’
for their sound, heavy by nature, but also mechanical industrial
with a lot of use of electronic noises and guitar synthesizers,
performed in a unique, energetic way and with a certain clarity in
order to recognize the riffs and the melodies. A lot of effect can
be found in the singing, foreseen by harmonies in order to immerse
it in a dark but cathedral sound. The texts deal with dark thoughts
about actual matters like war, rockets that come into the hands of
wrong world leaders, about the information you can find about
yourself on the internet and that can be abused by others, computer
hacking and the results of it, manipulation of the news, … in short
about all that can go wrong in this modern world. The panning sound
effects make it an adventurous and exotic stereo sound experience
for the listener. Loud drums and driven rhythms combined with an
overall balance experimental melodies and catchy vocals make this CD
something special. The only exception is the last song “This They
Must Never Know” that was added to the CD at the very latest moment.
this is a spoken text with an industrial experimental sound but as
composition perfectly fits to the concept of this album. Harsh words
towards the worldwide governments with a lot of truth can be found.
Although the album is a unique experience and has a unique sound, I
want to mark that the originality can become too much and when you
listen to it frequently, it becomes boring. |
