Matt Sery was born in New Jersey and raised in Connecticut. He began his musical career at 13 as a dummer. At the age of 19 Matt started playing guitar and began noticing his first song ideas inspired by seeing Def Leppard’s video “Photograph” on MTV. After full CD’s with his previous bands Simply Human and Spirit of ’76 this is Matt’s third album and his first solo effort. The length of the tracks vary from short “Move Mountains” – “Alien March” – “Seasons” to longer ones “Dancin’ With Mother Mary” – “Neptune” – “I’m Not Angry” – “You Got It” – “Star Spangled Eyes”. The album became a diverse one with one impressive thing… Matt Sery’s lyrics with diverse topics like relationships, religion and anger. Mat is contributed by a hand full of other musicians to give this album his full band feel. Most of the songs are upbeats in one way or another with some highlights like “Move Mountains”. The best song I noticed on the album is “Neptune” a long ballad with an ambience filled with synthesizers. “Alien March” and “Seasons” are more interludes to ring a certain mood into the album. Other songs worth listening to are “You Got It” and “Star Spangled Eyes”. A More Perfect Union is not the best album I noticed in the past few months but somehow the album has got he’s qualities now and then.
