Oh, dear not another album from a Japanese jazz combo? We’ve had so many of them reaching our reviewing desks over the last couple of years, and to be blunt: none of them have made the slightest impression on me. Usually the musicians are highly skilled, but I rarely find a heartbeat or a soul in their music. LONE EMPTY BED is no different. A group of very young musicians, who have now released an album containing six long compositions, which occasionally stray in nice territories, but on the whole are quite chaotic and seem to be leading nowhere. Sorry for being so brief. I like jazz lot at times, but this is nowhere near my idea of an enjoyable album. Since I’m not a jazz expert, I’ll refrain from rating this cd. |
