WOW! Talking about a comeback… The 6-year break FAIR WARNING took since their previous record seems to have done them a world of good, as the new Brother’s Keeper is without any doubt the best album they’ve done. If you liked FAIR WARNING’s previous albums, you’ll love this one. All typical trademarks are here, but somehow they have managed to flesh out their sound, making this album, darker, deeper and more powerful than its predecessors. As expected, the production is excellent and the musicians perform flawlessly. Tommy Heart sings maybe better than ever – however good he is in his other band, SOUL DOCTOR, this melodic rock is the style that seems to fit his voice best. Opener ‘Don’t Keep Me Waiting’ is a typical hook-laden FW song, with a huge chorus and a truly bombastic feel. ‘Push Me On’, ‘The Way’ and ‘Once Bitten, Twice Shy’ are in the same mould. The ballads are fine as well, especially ‘Wasted Time’. ‘Rainbow Eyes’ has a melody that keeps haunting me. Brilliant song. ‘Generation Jedi’ and ‘In The Dark’ show a darker side to FAIR WARNING and are for me some of the best tracks they’ve ever done. ‘Still I Believe’ is the European bonus track. One of the better song on the album; I’m very happy this was included.
An excellent album. Glad to have you back, boys… |
