Dacia Bridges has made her name the past few years as a singer and composer and became known when she entered the charts with her previous band Tape and received positive feedback. During this years she shared the stage with Limb Bizkit, Stone Sour, Disturbed, Die ärzte and rocked many festival classics “Rock am Ring” and “Rock im Park”. Due to personal reasons she left the band but is back now with a new band Dacia & the wmd (Weapons Of Mass Destruction) together with Ex-Farmer Boys Alex Scholpp (G) and Ralf Botzenhart (B) and Alex Menichini on drums who also plays in Stereopilot. It’s more than just a project! It’s about the influences of all members, to create something new without limitating themselves to just one style. Those influences are wide spread. While Dacia is a huge fan of Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Prince and also listen to drum and Bass; guitarist Alex Scholpp listens to bands like Slayer, Pantera, Killing Joke. Now they have released their self titled debut, a 12 track album (with 2 bonus tracks and one video on it on the limited first pressing) and is produced by ex-Skunk Anansie’s Ace.
All the songs could be gathered together under term ‘modern rock’. The album starts pretty rocking in wild rock and roll rides with “Who’s to say” and “Rockabilly Bitch” while
“Stop And Stare” is a more pop song with electronic elements. But also “Change The World” has got a lot of balls in it while it is based on a groovy bass line. Another more pop song with “live To Tell” followed by “6” which is ripping of your ears with a strong and heavy guitar riff. “Sorry” is a half-acoustic ballad with emotional layered vocals. On “My Reality”, a mid tempo rock song, I think you can see the masses bouncing while live performing. More rock you get with “How Long” while “Intensity” is based on a deep bass melody, calm drum patterns and nice emotional vocals. Together with “Who’s To Say” – “Rockabilly Bitch” & “6” ; “The communist” is one of my favorites that really blows your mind away. Last but not least Dacia is performing “Losing You” with special guest Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. The combining of two contrary voices is brilliant. This album is not a half-baked rock album like a “ in a dozen one and the band don’t leave anything to chance; For the mix of the album they engaged Tommy Hansen (Helloween, D.A.D., TNT, Pretty Maids, Hatesphere). You can compare Dacia & the wmd with bands like Anouk and Skunk Anansie so it is a great rock album where you can dance on.
