This mini cd contains two tracks “Healing” and “Haïtise” which will appear on the next album of Lac Placide. The band brings an original type of progressive rock, a kind of mixture between the French and Anglo Saxon style, this being reinforced by the fact that the songs are sung in both French and English… at the same time! ”Healing” starts very promising with a dreamy atmosphere with gentle female vocals. This is misleading because soon after a harsh (English) female voice takes over, supported by a French singing man. The lyrics overlap sometimes which makes things quite confusing. The mixing of the parts of the song is complex and the bass brings in a metal element, sometimes reminding of Ayreon. I could also recognize some early Camel influences and the guitar solos are great. ”Haïtise” is less complex, softer a bit and less convincing although it contains a marvellous instrumental part with a magnificent short guitar solo. The combination of the French and English vocals (the female vocals are very good) is used throughout the album. The surprising effect disappears after the first track, but the concept is quite successful in this case. Also the title track is a good song with some nice bass and piano playing and great synthesizer solos. It takes a while to get used to this music, but what I heard sounds promising for the 2nd full album to come.
