The Swedish trio Dynamic was formed by Guitar player John Huldt and drummer Johan Rydberg in the winter of 2002. Both men got the idea to mix many different music styles to get a whole new sound after they both have played metal for many years. Johan Rydberg called his friend Anders Lindskog and Dynamic was born. Starting with rehearsing some material that John had written before. After a few sessions, they noticed there was magic in the air. “Rules do not apply” is their third demo and just like the two albums they recorded before, this one also got good critics by leading musical magazines. Dynamic plays instrumental progressive rock with a variety of music styles. On this record you can hear rock and metal, but also blues, jazz, funk and Reggae. “Uncle Bob” starts with a bluesy lick and goes pretty heavy after that but in the 2nd minute you get surprised by a more reggae influenced melody and later in the song something else. “The Beauty Of Simplicity” opens with a bluesy feeling but also here in the 2nd minute there’s a change to metal this time. One and a half minute later in the song, it becomes a bit Funky. “The Ocean Floor Slumber” is the rest point on the demo. The song is built on a dreamy guitar melody, a bit jazzy with nice solo work and a good rhythm section. “Well This Ain’t Kansas” is the solo spot for all three musicians. The song start easy but turns out more heavy after a while and you get overwhelmed by great drum breaks, brilliant bass lines and good solo work of John Huldt; who spreads his notes and melodies over the whole album. You truly got surprised by the talent of the players. All songs are available for free download on their website…. Just like these three guys say: ‘Music must be fun and Dynamic’. |
