“There are no guitars or keys on this record.” This can be read on the back sleeve of this cd.

Unfortunately I don’t think this is a real credit.

Carl Soto, a good bass player without doubt, obviously wanted to record an album, showing what can be done with no other means than bass guitars and a bass synthesizer. The result is rather monotonous. Listening to track number six I still ad the impression that number one hadn’t ended yet. The music is very technical, machine made almost, and doesn’t seem to have any soul. The rare moments where there could be some atmosphere-building are immediately destroyed by the irritating drum machine. The same theme and the same rhythms are  repeated over and over again and make this album to a rather boring experience.

Okay, I am surprised about the sounds that can be created by a bass guitar and bass related instruments, but it’s not this kind of demonstration that I seek in music.
