On the 28th of
June 2004 the MCD ‘The Dark Secret’ is released as a foretaste of
the forthcoming full-length album of the Italian Rhapsody, scheduled
for a September release. Alas, on this promo example we’ve got only
one song, that’s ‘Unholy Warcry’.
Rhapsody sees things in an immense and almighty way these days and
finally they had the disposal of a budget to make their dreams come
true. Starting as an epic power metal band, they got more bombastic
every album. Now you almost fear they want to take the crown of
Therion. For also here we’ve got the help of a Czech orchestra, a
50-headed choir and the movie icon Christopher Lee. Rhapsody has
climbed one step higher. This track sounds spectacular indeed.
When we hear the demagogic voice of Christopher Lee, the line
between the film and music scene fades. With full conviction the
band calls their music film score metal from now on. Moreover
Manowar bass player Joey DeMaio got interested in the band and he
became their new manager. I’m not really surprised, Manowar is
another band that is so ‘over the top’ that it becomes charming. It
is a fact that Rhapsody is on its way to become a class apart in the
metal genre. They got my blessing!
There is a limited edition of the MCD ‘The Dark Matter’ with a bonus
DVD. There you can find short interviews with Christopher Lee, Joey
DeMaio and the band members plus behind the scenes material. Only
one song of this MCD will appear on the forthcoming full-length
album in September.
