The most romantic songs by Blackmore’s Night are now available on CD. This collection of songs was unconsciously determined by friends of Ritchie and Candice who used them as background music for their wedding party celebration. This explains why the album is called ‘Wedding Album’. As you can imagine from the title, this CD lives up to its expectations. The most romantic slow songs from the four previous albums are found in this collection. Let’s review them: From the first album, ‘Shadow of the Moon’(1997), comes “Be Mine Tonight”, “Spirit of the Sea” and “Wish You Were Here”. “Castles and Dreams”, “Beyond the Sunset”, Durch Den Wald Zum Bach Haus” and “ Now and Then” are the songs used from their second album, ‘Under a Violet Moon’ (1999). From the third album ‘Fires at Midnight’ (2001), come “I Still Remember”, “All Because of You”, “Waiting Just for You” and “Again Someday”. There were just two songs chosen from the the fourth studio album, ‘Ghost of a Rose’ (2003), those being “Diamonds and Rust” and “Ghost of a Rose”. This last song was re-recorded, but differs very little from the original version. Even more interesting for the fans is the new song, “Once In a Million Years”, which is totally in the style of Blackmore’s Night, as well as the extra DVD (5 songs) that is included in The Romantic Collection package. This bonus DVD is just a little taste of what can be expected on their next full album, available this fall. ‘Beyond the Sunset’ is probably not the kind of album that a die hard Blackmore fan would be waiting for. But the purchase of this CD is a good opportunity for the average music lover to get acquainted with Blackmore’s Night. You get this ‘middle-age century’ feeling with oriental influences of heavenly angles singing all for free. But you’ll have to arrange for your own romantic candles and wine. J |
