The oddly named Drahk Von Trip is a band that can be compared to their country and label mates Skyron Orchestra, in that they are a retro rock band that takes their inspiration from the psychedelic music from the late 60’s. This demo is a preview of their debut album, which is slated to be released in the spring of 2005.

The music is indeed typical for the psychedelic / progressive tradition and could just as well have been recorded back in the old days. One thing Drahk Von Trip have going for them, compared to Skyron Orchestra, is that they sound a lot more adventurous. The sounds of flutes and didgeridoos are not exactly what you would expect in this style of music, but it really works. Still, the compositions aren’t too great and I don’t really like the vocals either.

Let’s wait for the album before passing final judgement.
