Vulgar Unicorn centipede Neil Randall this time follows in the footsteps of
the great Italian band Goblin. Under the pseudonym of Schloss
Adler, Randall enters the world of Devil Doll and Morte Macabre in
order to deliver an unreleased soundtrack for the Black Widow Label as a
tribute to the black and white horror movies. However, he stays loyal to his
Vulgar Unicorn roots so Cyclops Records doesn’t see any harm in adding this
one-off release to its roster. It’s with this kind of release that the
British label is moving futher away from the neo-prog tag that they received
years ago. Armed with piano, electronics, acoustic guitar, cello and
percussion, new atmospheres are created by the minute, atmospheres that seem
to shed some light on the deep, dark inner self. This ideal material for the
chill-out room fits perfectly next to The Orb and Future Sound of London,
however, to be honest, I wouldn’t put this CD on if you’re at home all by
yourself. I can guarantee to you that you won’t leave the house ever again
… for the rest of your life!
